ABOUT ME

I started running in 2006, while at university. I also played football most Saturday mornings, and was a football referee. Add in everything else going on at the time (alcohol, girls etc.) and it's fair to say that running was hardly a priority. In fact, I ran seven times that year, with four miles being comfortably the furthest I went. The following few years were little different: I ran six miles as part of Sport Relief in 2008, and then really nothing. In 2011 and 2012, my wife, Lolly, got into running, and as a result, dragged me back into it. We ran the Bristol 10k together in 2012, and I got it. I also then proceeded to pick up injuries on and off for the next two years.

I'm in there somewhere! The 2012 Cardiff 10k: my second ever race.
In late 2012, and most of 2013, I spent more time in the physio's room than out running. Hence the name of the blog. In late 2013, with things finally starting to come together (despite a badly sprained ankle) I decided to finally run a half-marathon, something I'd been intending to do for a while. With a more intelligent training plan than I've ever used before (the previous plans being something like: go run, fast) I managed to keep myself in one piece and complete the distance.

Tired, but happy, after completing my first half-marathon.
My daughter on the other hand, just looks confused.
I haven't really looked back since. In 2014, I ran further than I've ever ran, brought my 10k time down by over four minutes and joined Running Forever RC, which has helped to keep my running on track. I'm looking forward to hopefully continuing in the same vein in 2015, training regularly and getting quicker and stronger.
